How many times have you put God in a box?
Meaning, you haven’t allowed Him to do what only He can do.
To be honest, I find myself doing it more times than I’d like to admit.
God is so BIG and so mighty! He’s all powerful! All knowing! Ever present!
Every time we try to control a situation, every time that we try to live our lives our way, we essentially limit God’s power. God, who is all knowing, who knows all the factors that are involved, not just from our own point of view, but from all the different directions that situation can go. That’s God.
1 Peter 1:24-25
All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the Word of the Lord endures forever.
It is so hard to relinquish control of our lives. But in order for God to fulfill His promises, we have to learn to surrender.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, for I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.
The Lord only wants good things for us, His children. He is not a punishing God. He is a loving, caring, merciful Father who wants to lavish us with all good gifts (Matthew 7:11-12). In order to receive what He wants to give us, we must step out of His way and allow Him to do what only He can do.
God is bigger than ANY situation that you’re facing. ANY!
God created everything! Everything we know: Planets, eco systems, animals, heaven, earth, the atmosphere, the air we breathe…
God is the greatest mathematician,
the greatest scientist,
the greatest engineer,
the greatest architect,
the greatest coder,
the greatest organizer,
the greatest flow chart maker,
the greatest artist,
the greatest chef.
You name it, He is the greatest at it!
He is the Alpha and the Omega; who is, and who was and who is to come, the Almighty! (Revelation 1:8).
He can do anything!
Psalms 103:14 says, for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust.
So the next time you find that you’re stuck, the next time that something feels impossible, the next time you feel completely hopeless, give it up to God. Ask Him to take that situation from you and watch how He uses it for your good (Romans 8:28).
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding and He will make your paths straight.
Let’s say this prayer together. Say it every time you feel like you’re taking it back from Him.
Father, I am sorry that I put you a in a box. I am sorry that I tried to take control of ____________________/my life.
Father, I retire from being the God of my life and I surrender to you. I give (your current situation)___________________ to you.
I relinquish control, trusting that You, the God of the universe, will use all things for my good. That You know what is best for me and that You will make my paths straight. I will not step to the left or to the right. I will stay on the path that You set before me, trusting You and Your wisdom. Thank you, Father, that You are a loving and merciful Father. That You have good plans for my future. Thank you that even though we are like grass in the field that withers away, that You love us so much! Amen.

This is an incredible, awesome, and beautiful reminder of surrendering to His ways.
